Visual Artist | Muralist & Sculptor with Interior Expertise

Her work spans site-specific and studio-produced artworks, often integrated into commercial spaces. Rooted in themes of organic forms, liminality, and the cycle of life, her creations merge primal depth with an alluring presence. Alongside her artistic practice, she has been involved in teaching and academic collaborations, contributing to both artistic and educational communities.

Nephele Ε. Katsarou was born in Athens in 1985. She graduated in Graphic Arts on a scholarship and later studied Painting and Sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 2018, she earned her degree with honours from the Sculpture Department. She also attended workshops in Ceramic and Mosaic Art. She holds a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture: Social and Sustainable Design from the University of West Attica (2020–2022) which she completed with excellence and she is currently a PhD candidate at the University of the Aegean, exploring shape and idea in the posthuman realm.

Having experience in graphic design and production management in the publishing industry, she now works as a visual artist, collaborating with interior design, architecture, and construction firms to create both site-specific and studio-produced artworks, contributing to artistic interventions in commercial spaces.

In addition to her artistic practice, she has taught Visual Arts and Art History through private lessons and cultural associations since 2006. She also worked as an Adjunct Teaching Associate in Industrial Design at the University of West Attica (2022-2023) and continues to be invited by faculty members to deliver lectures and participate in academic activities at various institutions.

Organic forms, liminality, and the cycle of life are central themes in most of her personal works, often expressed through shapes that are both obscene and alluring. She weaves her visual narratives through a myriad of materials, channelling the raw energy that lingers between hand and matter. Even in her most minimal and abstract pieces, a hidden story subtly unfolds, serving as the driving force behind her creative process.

She has actively engaged with the artistic community and professional networks and has participated in exhibitions and artistic events since 2015.

Also known in Greece as Nefeli Ekati Katsarou, she signed many of her works as Ekati (Εκάτη), inspired by the goddess Hecate.
